McMillan Coffee Morning was back on Friday, September 24th. This year, it’s never felt more important to have some fun and raise money to help Macmillan Cancer do whatever it takes to support people living with cancer.
Kirstie Smith, H&S Training Co-Ordinator, organised a smasher of a coffee morning, enabling the team at ECL to join businesses globally and participate in the world’s biggest coffee morning.
The number of cakes and tasty treats donated was remarkable. Everyone’s kindness and generosity in giving up their time to bake, help raise money and make the morning a success blew us away.
There were cakes galore, and deciding a winner was undoubtedly a tough job for our sweet-toothed judges, but after much deliberating and much tasting, the ‘Best Bake Champion’ went to, for the third time running, Usha Kumar, Our Accounts Assistant her deelish Onion Bhajis. Closely followed up in second place with some seriously good Willy Wonka Cup Cakes was Tracey Penwright and in third place was Amelia Troughton-Smith with her lip-smacking Cookie Cups.
Bake winners aside, there was also a very serious ‘Guess the number of sprinkles competition, where people came out in their hundreds and thousands to take part.
Dave Fil was at the ‘topping’ of his game, winning the competition with a guess of 925 sprinkles, only 12 sprinkles away from the actual amount of 937. Well done, Dave.
All in all the day was a massive success, with employees donating to dress down or wear something green to represent the charity, along with a few laughs and much carb loading for all.
Kirstie Smith said,
“Firstly, I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part in today’s MacMillan Coffee morning. I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks we had an amazing turnout. I’m very grateful for everyone’s support and generosity, which has allowed us to raise
£305.35 to go towards the charity.
Hats off to Kirstie for all her hard work in organising such a great day for a great cause.
