Attenuation Tank Broadnook
HOLEY MOLEY
Imagine a hole so vast it could easily fit 40 artic lorries!
Measuring 55 meters long, 45 meters wide, and a staggering 7 meters deep, we can confidently say, “We dug a massive hole!” to install the attenuation tank at Broadnook. This tank, designed to manage stormwater runoff, is a crucial part of the project’s sustainable development strategy.
We’ve successfully executed similar projects countless times, but this one is on an entirely different scale—with the need to excavate an impressive 20,000 cubic meters of material.
Using a fleet of 35-tonne machines and D6 dozers, we swiftly removed the material in just four weeks. The excavated material was subsequently screened and sieved, with the recycled material used as backfill once the tank was installed, resulting in significant carbon savings for the project.
The tank, located on the west side of the A6 within the Broadnook development, was completed in June and is designed to support the new, expansive Broadnook community. This community, with its 2,143 new homes, a village centre with shops, bars, cafes, a supermarket, a community centre, a primary school, a retirement village, as well as 37 acres of office and industrial space, promises a vibrant and dynamic future for Broadnook.
This is just the beginning of a new era for Broadnook, where community spirit meets modern living. Stay tuned for more exciting updates as we continue to shape this incredible development.
